🤝 Working With Us

Does it cost anything to work with O'Neal Insurance Group?

No. Our guidance is provided at no cost to you. Agents may be compensated by the insurance carriers whose plans they help you compare and enroll in.

Is O'Neal Insurance Group connected with the federal Medicare program?

No. We are an independent insurance agency and are not connected with or endorsed by the federal Medicare program.

Does O'Neal Insurance Group offer every plan available?

No. We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to the plans we offer where you live.

What information should I have ready before we talk?

It helps to have your current doctors, pharmacies, prescriptions, and a general sense of your budget and priorities. You don't need anything finalized — we can also help you gather this.

Can I receive help by telephone or online?

Yes. We offer guidance by phone or by online screen-share appointment, whichever you prefer.

Can O'Neal Insurance Group compare plans against my doctors and prescriptions?

Yes, that's part of a typical conversation — we review available plans against the doctors and pharmacies you tell us about.

What should I avoid sending through an online form?

Please don't submit Social Security numbers, Medicare ID numbers, medical records, or payment information through our contact form. A licensed agent will collect anything sensitive securely, by phone or during your appointment.

📋 Medicare Basics

What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?

Medicare Advantage (Part C) bundles Original Medicare with extra benefits through a private plan, usually with a network. Medigap works alongside Original Medicare to help pay remaining costs and generally does not restrict you to a network. You cannot have both at once.

What does Medicare Part D cover?

Part D is prescription drug coverage, either as a standalone plan alongside Original Medicare or bundled into many Medicare Advantage plans. Learn more.

What is a dual-eligible plan?

Dual-eligible plans are designed for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. Learn more.

Do I need Medicare if I still have employer coverage?

It depends on the size of your employer and how your current coverage coordinates with Medicare. This is worth reviewing individually before you decide whether to enroll or delay.

🗓️ Enrollment & Eligibility

When can I enroll in Medicare?

Common windows include your Initial Enrollment Period around your 65th birthday, the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15–December 7), and the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1–March 31). Special Enrollment Periods may apply in certain situations, such as losing other coverage.

What happens if I miss my enrollment window?

Depending on the situation, you may face a late enrollment penalty or need to wait for the next available enrollment period. It's worth talking with an agent as soon as you realize a deadline may have passed.

Can I change plans if my needs change during the year?

Generally, plan changes happen during specific enrollment periods, though certain life events can qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period outside those windows.

🩺 Other Coverage

Do you help with coverage outside of Medicare?

Yes — we also help with individual and family health insurance, dental and vision, critical illness and cancer coverage, hospital indemnity plans, and whole and term life insurance.

What is hospital indemnity insurance?

It's coverage that pays a cash benefit toward the cost of a hospital stay, which can help offset out-of-pocket costs from other coverage. Learn more.

Can you help with Medicaid questions?

Yes, we can help you understand Medicaid eligibility and how it may work alongside Medicare. Learn more.

🎖️ Veterans & Dual-Eligible

Can veterans use Medicare with VA or TRICARE coverage?

In many cases, yes — VA and TRICARE benefits can coordinate with Medicare, though the details depend on your individual situation. Learn more on our veterans page.

Are dual-eligible plans different from standard Medicare Advantage plans?

Yes — dual-eligible (D-SNP) plans are a specific type of Medicare Advantage plan designed for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, often with additional coordinated benefits.

💬 Compensation & Independence

Which states does the agency serve?

We're Medicare-licensed in 30 states and Washington, D.C., with offices in Nevada, Illinois, and Mississippi. See our locations page for details.

How is an independent insurance agent compensated?

Independent agents are generally compensated by the insurance carriers whose plans they sell, not by the consumer directly. This lets us provide guidance at no additional cost to you.

What does "independent agency" mean?

It means we aren't employed by a single insurance company. We represent multiple carriers, so we can compare options across the plans we're appointed to offer rather than promoting only one company's products.
